Born and raised in New Jersey, I’m always on the search for a good bagel. One weekend, a particularly strong craving came over me, and for the next hour or so we scoured the internet for a good bagel on Oahu that resembled a New York-style. We wasted so much time looking, that I got fed up and exclaimed I’d make my own. As an avid baker, and Sanders being an avid enjoyer of my baking, this was a welcome idea (aside from my hanger that was setting in). With Sanders as an expert sous chef, we made our first batch of New York bagels. After the first bite, we both looked at each other acknowledging that these wouldn’t anger any New Yorker as imposter bagels, and left us wanting more. Now we bake for Oahu and its visitors.
